about
This song is dedicated to the Black Lives Matter movement and to 3 of my musical heroes/heroines: Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, and Nina Simone.
It is a reaction to the unequal treatment of African Americans by law enforcement and the American judicial system. It is written from the perspective of a parent losing his/her child to excessive and unnecessary violence perpetrated by law enforcement.
lyrics
Baby please, can you please come home,
I need to feel your touch once more,
And baby please, can you pick up your phone,
I need to hear your voice once more.
And baby please, can you please not be gone,
Some lives are taken without any cause.
And when will they know, when will they know that they're wrong.
Some don't even question after they hear shots.
How much longer must we wait,
For all of us push for a change.
How much longer can we ignore and go on,
It’s only when it hit’s us at home,
Then we’ll know.
